Friend to Foe

As the days roll by,

Slowly becoming years,

Your feelings trickle down your face,

Then I see – they are tears.

The feelings you have for friends

Who have let you down,

Make you feel so used –

A lake in which you may drown.

Some indiscretions that

Could change our minds

Pass within distance

As if we were blind.

As you turn your back

Feeling somewhat cold,

The friend you once harbored

Was really but a foe.
