The Minstrel and the Muse

Softly playing your lute
notes tinkling on the wind.
You sing your story of words
playing your life for a friend.
You live to play and sing
yours is such a happy trend.

"Let's put music to this story,"
said the minstrel to the muse.
"We have to sing the story complete
we need to tell of the ruse.
To sing it lackadaisical
would rend it of no use."

Smiling to all when you jest
you never conceal your smile.
Singing your funny to those present
the mosaic is fit for a tile.
As you chat with all others
the story spreads from mile to mile.

Weary minstrel and your muse
please sit near the fire.
Sing the story you ache to tell
we'll listen and never tire.
Our fire, food and drink we pray
will be to your desire.

Softly play your lute
notes tinkling on the wind.
Sing your story of words
play your story for a friend.
Your life is to play and sing
yours is such a happy trend.
